Childhood without television would surely have been drab and dry and television without Cartoon Network would have been miserable. Thankfully, we had both of these amazing things in our life and times after school or summer vacations were made so much more colourful with our favourite characters and their world that we felt like we were an important part of. Thinking of Cartoon Network often takes several of us on a nostalgic trip that invariably ends with us crying to go back to when we were children and could watch shows all day long, carefree and relaxed. We certainly owe a lot of the entertainment that we had as kids to a few shows on Cartoon Network that we would not miss for anything. So, let us take a look at five of those amusing shows.
1. Tom and Jerry
Think of the white and black Cartoon Network logo and the first thing that comes to mind is the MGM lion that precedes the most loved and perhaps one of the greatest animated shows on television, Tom and Jerry. Even with us grown out of our childhood, the theme tune of this amazing series can play in our mind in the flash of a second and that is how obsessed we were with the two characters and their stories. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry feature first on our list because Cartoon Network without Tom and Jerry is unimaginable. Check out Tom & Jerry T-Shirts.
2. The Powerpuff Girls
Surely one of the best shows on television that we were definitely addicted to was The Powerpuff Girls. This show had everything and it now makes us wonder how a series could have been so good back then. With the three little girls who have powers that we would die for, and villains who made us laugh, The Powerpuff Girls were our heroes then and at some level for the child in us deep within, they’re our heroes even now. 3. Dexter’s Laboratory
What really got all of interested in science was not the way our teacher tried to make it fun or how our parents thought we would grow up to receive awards for our inventions but the fact that a child called Dexter had a laboratory where he tried the coolest experiments. Dexter’s Laboratory was a show that had intelligence, emotion and humour, all packed perfectly into each episode so it sure is not a surprise that the show is on our list. 4. Courage The Cowardly Dog
A lavender dog that gets scared at the drop of a hat, with an ironic name and the most lovable personality sounds like a protagonist whose story we would want to hear. Courage the Cowardly Dog was a show that was hilarious and emotional at the same time and it still remains a mystery as to how the creators could have added so many different elements and still make it work as wonderfully as it has. A show that we absolutely loved!
5. Scooby Doo
Seems like characters with dogs were our favourites back then! Adventurous and cool, Scooby Doo was a series that we would discuss with our friends with so much excitement, that we still remember those times fondly. Shaggy and Scooby were a duo that we admired, so much so that many of us wanted dogs that we could go on quests with. With funny instances and mysteries that made us think, Scooby Doo is a show that we will always cherish as part of our childhood memories.
